2단계 : 저체중 강아지
마른 상태로 갈비뼈가 쉽게 만져지거나 강아지를 만질 때 살짝 살이 만져지고,
허리 뼈와 엉덩이뼈에도 피부와 뼈 사이에 살이 아주 조금 붙은 상태로 맨눈으로 확인할 때
강아지의 주요 뼈(갈비, 척추, 등) 살짝 돌출되어 있고,
강아지를 세워 위에서 볼 때 허리 부분이 들어간 모습을 확인할 수 있습니다.
3단계 : 적정 체중 강아지
약간의 지방이 덮여 있는 상태로 갈비뼈가 만져집니다. 맨눈으로 볼 때 허리 뼈와 꼬리가 연결되는 부위에 살이 있고,
위에서 강아지를 바라볼 때 강아지 허리선이 부드러운 곡선을 볼 수 있습니다.
4단계 : 과체중 강아지
몸에 지방이 많이 있어서 갈비뼈와 허리뼈를 전체적으로 덮고 있는 모습을 보이고, 몸을 만져보았을 때, 뼈가 쉽게 만져지지는 않는 몸이라고 생각해 주시면 됩니다. 또한 위에서 봤을 때 허리선이 드러나지 않는 모습을 볼 수 있습니다.
5단계 : 비만 강아지
몸에 갈비뼈를 비롯한 몸 전체에 덮고 있는 지방이 너무 두꺼워 갈비뼈를 만지기 어려운 상태로,
허리뼈, 엉덩이뼈 전체적으로 지방이 두꺼워 잘 만질 수 없고,
돌출되어 있는 뼈도 살에 파묻혀 있는 상태를 비만이라고 생각하시면 될 것 같습니다.
강아지를 위에서 봤을 때 전체적으로 좌우가 볼록하거나 목에 살이 접히는 모습을 볼 수 있습니다.
저체중강아지로 확인되었다면 건강하게 체중을 늘리는 방법에 대해 생각해 봐야 합니다.
여러 방법이 있지만 저체중강아지의 몸무게를 늘리려면 체중을 꾸준히 기록하고 관찰하는 방법과 수의사와 상담을 진행하여
적정한 체중이 어느 정도인지 먼저 체크해야 합니다. 그 이유는 견종마다 아이들마다 적정 체중이 상이하기 때문입니다.
혹, 몸에 기생충이 있어 체중이 증가하지 않는 경우가 있어서 기생충 여부도 병원에서 검사를 통해 꼭 확인해야 합니다.
